Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu by wrapping it in paper towels and placing a weight on top for 20 minutes.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes.
  3. Toss the cubed tofu in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the tofu until golden brown on all sides (about 5-7 minutes).
  5. In a separate bowl, mix soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), garlic, and ginger to create the sauce.
  6. Reduce heat to low and pour the sauce over the fried tofu, stirring gently until well-coated (about 3-4 minutes).
