  • ¾ cup cocoa powder (Dutch-processed)
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and dust with flour.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in buttermilk until smooth.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely in the pans.
  6. For frosting, beat together peanut butter and softened butter; gradually add powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. For ganache, heat heavy cream with dark chocolate chips until melted and glossy.
  8. Stack the cooled cakes with peanut butter frosting between layers and top with ganache.
