- 8 oz spaghetti
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente (8-10 minutes). Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
- Sauté Garlic & Tomatoes: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add halved cherry tomatoes and cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Season: Stir in red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste. Add fresh basil leaves and cook for an additional minute.
- Combine: Toss the drained spaghetti into the skillet with the tomato mixture. Gradually add reserved pasta water until desired sauce consistency is reached.
- Finish & Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. Serve hot with extra basil for garnish if desired.
