Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Guinness stout
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and Guinness until smooth. Stir in sugar, then add eggs and sour cream.
  3. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
  5. For frosting, beat together powdered sugar and remaining softened butter until fluffy, then mix in vanilla extract.
