- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter and Guinness until smooth. Stir in sugar, then add eggs and sour cream.
- In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
- For frosting, beat together powdered sugar and remaining softened butter until fluffy, then mix in vanilla extract.
