  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and whisk in flour until smooth; cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add milk while stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
  5. Mix in garlic powder, mustard powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper into the cheese sauce.
  6. Combine cooked macaroni with pulled pork and cheese sauce; transfer to a greased baking dish.
  7. Top with panko breadcrumbs and bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
