- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish with butter.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter; stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add heavy cream and milk, stirring until thickened (about 5 minutes). Mix in garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cheddar cheese until melted.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish; pour half of the cheese sauce over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; uncover and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
